Paul writes this to a church under pressure to add something to Christ. Philosophy, ritual, secret knowledge, the latest religious trend. His answer is not a defense. It is a posture. The Christian who has received Christ walks in Christ, and the Christian who walks in Christ is rooted in Him. The metaphor is deliberate. Roots do not move. They are not blown over. They go deeper while the storm passes.

To be rooted in Christ is to draw life from a single source. The believer does not graft himself onto cultural moods, political movements, or self-help frameworks for stability. He sends his roots into the cross and what was finished there. The fruit comes later. The growth comes later. First, the roots. First, Christ.
